4 Tips for Furnace Repair

April 15, 2016

The season of spring may have arrived but in Voorhees it’s not all warm and cozy outside. Your furnace has been going for months striving to keep you and your family comfortable, so now is the time to make sure you’re giving your furnace some affection. If you hear funny noises or the heating system has turned itself off, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice an intense gas smell, you almost certainly need furnace repair work and you should call Atmostemp Service Experts straightaway.

Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, read these tips from Atmostemp Service Experts.

  • Confirm your thermostat is switched to “heat.”

It may sound laughable, but we have hectic days and life happens, so it can be easy to miss the simple fixes. Not remembering to move over the thermostat can make you assume you need furnace repair and installation when really you can remedy the problem with a literal flip of the switch!

  • Check your furnace switch.

On the topic of switches, make sure your furnace switch is in the up, or “on” position. As before, an easy miss, especially when you remember this switch isn’t one you might look at daily. Most systems have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about calling our furnace repair man.

  • Change your furnace air filter.

You should change your home’s air filters around every three months to help your system run more efficiently and postpone any furnace repair work. An unclean air filter is one of the most typical reasons for poor performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for bacteria and cause you and your loved ones to become sick. Swap your filter to keep both your furnace and your loved ones healthy. You can also schedule yearly maintenance with Atmostemp and have a thorough furnace cleaning as part of your tune-up.

  • Check the circuit breaker.

Check your circuit breaker panel to see if the breaker that controls your furnace is in the middle position or the “off” position. If the breaker has ended up in the middle position, cycle the breaker to “off” and then reset it to the “on” position.

Furnace repairs get to be expensive, so avoid a future issue altogether with ongoing maintenance from Atmostemp Service Experts. However, if you ever do need furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to help you with all your heating needs.
