The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the ability to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they get to create nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with money-management and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“All the team members were so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even showed our group their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
