We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not turn on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
